Research Dossier (Current reference, data + image sources)

What this car is: The Lotus Type 88 / 88B was a radical 1981 F1 twin-chassis ground-effect concept. It was protested and barred from racing for effectively separating the “sprung” driver chassis from an aero-loaded outer chassis.

Spec anchors used by this generator (for proportions): wheelbase ~2178 mm; track front ~1778 mm / rear ~1600 mm; mass ~585 kg; engine Ford Cosworth DFV 2993 cc V8; 5-speed manual gearbox (Lotus/Hewland lineage). (See spec sources above.)
